On Adoption

When we tell our child someday about how they came into our lives, our family story will always begin with you, and we will instill in them deep pride and gratitude for their roots. 

Thank you so much for getting to know us as you consider adoptive parents for your child. Having a family together has been our dream since we first met. Now that we’re here, meeting you, we feel incredible excitement and yet we’re deeply humbled by knowing how difficult this journey must be for you. We’ve always imagined an open adoption, and we hope to have a relationship with you in any way that makes you comfortable.

We live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with our Boxer Juma and Great Dane Brutus

We met at a fundraiser for Barack Obama in 2008.

We then had our 1st date at Cafe Lulu’s which is still a favorite of ours today. While dating we traveled all over the world making friends everywhere we went. We got married in Iowa in 2013, just before it was legal in Wisconsin. We thought about waiting but we really like breaking the rules. We both believe in open and honest communication even when it's not fun, or what you want to hear. (We also think that a good therapist can go a very long way to making good relationships great ones!)

Our Values

Our goal as parents is to raise independent children who never question if they are loved and deeply cared for. It is our hope to eventually send them out into the world to make it a better place. Doing right by others and being good citizens are central themes in our home. Should you choose us, we will always strive to do right by you because we understand the sacrifice you are making and we appreciate the gift of family you are giving us.

Diversity is very important to us. The community where we live is the most diverse in our city. We have a large extended family that includes 10 nieces and nephews. We’ve also hosted high school exchange students from Brazil and Slovakia who have become part of the family. We are excited at the thought of traveling and showing your child the amazing diversity this world has to offer!

Our families are both supportive and will be there for us to lean on and take advice from. We have 5 nieces and 5 nephews ranging from 18 to 2 years old.

People are always impressed with how different each of our family members are and yet we are all still so close. Our religion, politics, and sexual orientation are all different, and trust me we all have our opinions, but we never let it stop us from being a family first.

Our home is in a little circle of 12 homes that share the property. Our neighbors are thrilled about us adopting. We all look out for each other and are all good friends. Almost all of our residents are active in the larger community. We have an amazing Montessori school nearby and a park right across the street. Everything is walking distance from our home. We also have friends nearby that are adopting right now as well. We really feel like we hit the jackpot with our neighbors and neighborhood.
